Kanuka, Torrent Bay

A coastal National Park location called for design sensitivity, and this beachfront holiday home blends with nature to be barely visible from the sea. Boat -only access and a remote off-grid location created plenty of interesting challenges. All materials were landed by barge on the high tide. Power is provided by a PV panel array, and evacuated tube solar collectors deliver hot water with a surplus diverted to radiators. Systems performance is set up for remote monitoring by the overseas owners.
